Happy FunDay!
Can We Make This Background Look Like a Jungle?
It’s another Happy FunDay! I hope you all had a good week. We are finally back down at our beach home.
We aren’t actually on the beach; it is just right across the street. It is so beautiful and quiet, I won’t complain one bit having to go a few minutes to get there.
The community we live in is nice and quite during the off season when all the vacationers are gone. We live way in the back next to a wildlife preserve, so we don’t have too many human neighbors.
We have seen turtles, frogs, snakes, alligators, rabbits, and even an armadillo once. Not sure what it was doing this far east. There is also, a beautiful zero entry pool that we usually have to ourselves during the fall and winter.
This all puts me in a tropical, island mood; and what is more fitting to color than a tropical blue and yellow parrot flying through the jungle? The only issue is that backgrounds frighten and intimidate me. I have never really completed a good background successfully. This picture however, needs a background, so we are going to give this one a try and see how it turns out.
I found Tim Holtz’s Distress Oxide and that seemed like a simpler method than trying to fill in that whole area with colored pencils to give it a hazy jungle feel. I watched his demo on YouTube comparing Distress Inks and Oxides and believe I found two methods that will work perfectly for our background.
First, don’t forget to download the PDFs for both the page and the color chart.
Then, come join me on YouTube to find out how it goes and can I successfully complete a background.
