The Parrot!! (Pt 1)

We have been waiting for a whole week to start on this beautiful blue and yellow parrot.  Although this is a coloring page, we will be referring to an actual picture to make it as realistic as possible.  We will be starting on the front half of the bird today and finishing up the blue feathers and the tail tomorrow.

The Ninth Circle of Hell

I know some of these stories are out of order, but they are major events that occurred during the time Hurricane Meg stalled over North Georgia that made me really regret the decision I made to have my mother move in with us.

Tropical Parrot in the Jungle

It’s another Happy FunDay!  I hope you all had a good week.  We are finally back down at our beach home. This all puts me in a tropical, island mood; and what is more fitting to color than a tropical blue and yellow parrot flying through the jungle?  The only issue is that backgrounds frighten and intimidate me.  I have never really completed a good background successfully.  This picture however, needs a background, so we are going to give this one a try and see how it turns out.

Paper and Pencils – The Perfect Combination (Pencils)

Last week we discussed some of the various paper options available.  Now on to pencils!  There are so many different types of colored pencils out in the marketplace; brands, wax or oil based, concentration of pigment, and the list goes on and on.  I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the pencils that are out there to experiment with, and I am hoping we can do that together!

Breaking News –

This is a long, drawn-out story with lots of twist and turns.  Just like a hurricane making its way through the Caribbean. It wasn’t long after my mother moved in with us that the trouble began.

Can These Tiny Pomegranate Seeds Can Be Done?

Down to the last piece of this picture!  We will be working on the pomegranate.  It is fairly easy, the technique is similar to the apples, but instead of the pink highlight, we will be using purple.  The only difficult part of this is the teeny tiny little seeds.  They were a major pain, but don’t worry I will show you how I did those.

Paper and Pencils – The Perfect Combination (Paper)

In my opinion, not necessarily.  You need to have the perfect balance of the right paper to pencils; and skill, of course. Probably one of the biggest factors in creating a beautiful colored pencil picture, I found, was the type of paper you choose. There are so many out there to explore.

The Decision That Changed My Life

I have made some really bad decisions in my life. Other bad decisions I have made, I took my lumps, learned my lesson, and moved on.  But this decision I may never be able to overcome.

Want an Almost Realistic Looking Basket?

How did your apples turn out?  Did you get some good quiet and relaxing time?  I sure hope so!  Coloring always helps me clear my mind, forget about my troubles, and relax. Today we will be working on the basket.  It may look a little complicated, but it is so easy once you learn the technique.  You just need to repeat the process on each small section.

Cool Technique for Coloring Apples

When I was thinking about what to color for this week, I thought about “In the Beginning” and what is the most well known “In the Beginning” story?  Yep, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and a forbidden fruit, which traditionally was an apple.  So, that is what I went with; but, instead of coloring just one apple, I found this cute basket of apples with a pomegranate and honey jar.
