It’s A New Year

Did you make your New Year’s resolutions yet? How many have your broken already? I used to do that — make a list of the things I wanted to change or do in the coming year, then either never follow through or would try for a few weeks before I gave up and went back to my usual routine. Instead of creating a list at the beginning of the year, I will declare a resolution each month and then work during that time to incorporate the change I desire into my daily routine. To start the new year off on the right foot, my current resolution is: Do Everything with purpose. All actions and words spoken will be done thoughtfully and carefully or not at all.

Paper and Pencils – The Perfect Combination (Pencils)

Last week we discussed some of the various paper options available.  Now on to pencils!  There are so many different types of colored pencils out in the marketplace; brands, wax or oil based, concentration of pigment, and the list goes on and on.  I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the pencils that are out there to experiment with, and I am hoping we can do that together!

In my opinion, not necessarily.  You need to have the perfect balance of the right paper to pencils; and skill, of course. Probably one of the biggest factors in creating a beautiful colored pencil picture, I found, was the type of paper you choose. There are so many out there to explore.

The Beginning of a Colorful Journey

I knew I had to do something for myself to be creative and reduce my stress.  I gave coloring a go and really liked it! The bright colored pencils, the creativity, and especially the way it took my mind off my crappy everyday problems. But I know I have a long journey of learning techniques and lots and lots of practice. Then I had the idea that maybe there are a lot of you out there that are in the same situation of needing a creative outlet and not knowing where to begin.  Why not bring you along on my journey?!?  You will keep me motivated to learn new processes and techniques and you can learn right along with me.
